CHARTED: Nursing Week '08 (Nov 17-21, 2008)

during the parade :)
The best time to get relieved and unwind under your wildest mood without the conscience of acting favorably as a nurse would most likely fall under the Nursing Week celebration.
As a nursing frosh, i had no concrete idea on how the people of UST-College of Nursing celebrate. Or how could the workaholic people of this college ever manage to put up some fun during "our" week. In fact, the college week has been reduced into days, so to say, Nursing Days.

So the college week was this : college shirts

Monday: I need not to worry hurrying on a lab activity but I needed to come to school early because the Elizabeth Procession starts at 7am. But if there's one good thing I have to smile about that morning is that I saw someone.. significant? ~yes.
The route would start at the building, of course, then to St. Raymond's Building to the student center (Tan Yan Kee), to the UST-HS building down to the UST fields then to Beatoc Angelico Building to the Arch of the Centuries to the Sports Complex the Carpark then back to St. Martin de Porres' Building.
whooh!
Ooop, I forgot. Before we finally go back to our building, we celebrated a Holy Mass at the Santissimo Rosario Parish with our College Regent, Rev. Fr. Julius Paul Factora as the celebrant. Okay, so now we go back to our building. Right after resting ourselves in the Laboratory rooms on the 6th floor, we were called by our class president to go down the first floor and go to the Nursing Auditorium to watch the Elizabethoscopy. By the way, St. Elizabeth of Hungary is the Patron Saint of Nurses. After finishing the Elizabethoscopy, we had an early lunch break. I cant recall exactly what we did after the film showing but, ugh, after that I am pretty certain that we had classes. Luckily, not all teachers made it to class. Maybe they went somewhere or thought this might be a good excuse to rest themselves for a while.
Then, I guess I became too tired to go elsewhere, I wasn't able to watch the NDT (Nursing Dance troupe) Concert. Much as I wanted to, there's no one in the class I know who would go so I opted not to watch all the same. So that's day one.

Tuesday: This day is no less than a free day for all of us freshmen. The Higher years were so busy they almost blocked every hallway in the building (Especially the NCBS staffers). On the other hand, the Sophies are about to have the most wonderful event in their Nursing life, The Capping Ceremonies. I saw nice lamps with the label "Class of 2011" ~aww.. how I wish WE were the class of 2011 --that's the Quadricentennial year of UST!
Anyway, the morning was nothing more than spending the day frozen inside the classroom or lay motionless on a chair and think or do nothing at all.
During the afternoon, we spent four hours growing problematic on how to draw a couple of epithelial tissues, connective tissues, muscular and nervous tissues and the likes inside the AnaPhysio Lab. Peep at the microscope, scribble on a scratch paper, transfer it to the Lab Manual then color them. That's it!
And, what spiced my completely infuriating afternoon inside the AnaPhysio Lab was when section 1-11 dropped in. In other words, we shared classrooms. Maybe they were called by our Class Instructor (that might be their class instructor as well) to come over the room so they wont be left behind the schedule for the lessons. And what to expect? ~him, of course. :)
Of course, every friend of mine was busy doing their tasks at the same time busy bugging me about him and so on. That was the closest encounter so far :)

Wednesday: This is a Hi! Yellow! day. The students and Faculty members are supposed to be in yellow and yet, I came to school in Uniform :| I neede to comply with the Extemporaneous speech contest (that I flunked) and even failed to join the Dodge Ball game that I even payed for! The games would be the start of the UST-Nursing Cup 2008 and our team is.. Gray Phoenix?! cant remember.
So as the contest finished, the radio drama followed. And after finishing the whole program, I finally changed to yellow and went to the Kapatiran with AC. That was a looooong walk!
The next few hours, I, Ma-anne, AC and Patrick decided to watch the official entry of this year's Nursinemax which was entitled Ang Pinakagwapong Nurse. The film was great! of course! Another great success to follow last year's Anino (2007's Nursinemax entry).
And the rest of the day was spent bugging people in our Jail booth. The booth was managed by none other than 1-12. No other section did, except during the morning of course.
Finally, the Search for Mr. and Ms. Ideal Thomasian Nursing Personality (did I get it right?!) that started at 6pm. That was a long event to finish and I needed to go home soon so I wasnt able to finish the Pageant night. Anyway, I know I would receive news from the people whoever won the contest. :)

Thursday: Now this would be a Be clean, wear Green! day. The day is supposed to get started at 8:00am but failed to. :| For some reasons I know not of. Well it was supposed to be the Faculty Play to start at 8:00. Yet it had been moved to 10:00am and so on and so on. Since yesterday, nothing started on time.
However, the long wait was worth it. I enjoyed the performance of sir gian the most (Jollibee!). Oh! by the way, Jollibee was co-star in the play! he revived sir gian to life! ahahahah!! and our last sem adviser, Ma'am Sel was the wicked green witch (~ahahahaha!!!).
Then we supported Jv on the Quiz Bee. Each group was composed of a frosh, a sophie, a junior and a senior together witha one faculty member. Jv's team didn't made it but at least they werent last.
There was paintball and amazing race too :))
Then the day ended, almost, with the Proper Body Mechanics that happened in the Plaza Mayor. All the students was there, plus the faculty members. Though we looked kinda stupid in front of all the colleges watching, errr.. IT'S FINE! we made a record anyway! :))
Then, we had dinner somewhere in P.Noval with Kristia, Bong, Sid and Mark and went back to the Nursing Audi to watch The Open Mic where Daryl and Nicco would perform. Well, I say they were the best among all the freshies! see! I swear!
But I needed to go home early so after their performance, I bid them goodbye :)

Friday: its Get Loud! Be Proud! College Shirt! day. The day was started with the most solemn parade you could ever see in your entire life! That sounded more of a prayer ralle to me than a "parade".
After the tiring yet solemn walk, we went back the building to the wowowii room where they played several virtual games. ~funny :)!~ Then, the TPN or Todo Pakain sa Nursing where there was overflowing of food and stuffs! whoooohooo! Then we went to the third floor to relax ourselves and found the rest of the class inside our former jail booth. The view of the Live bands at the Dean's garden from up the third floor is great. I even threw a peso in their collecting shade :) Then, the variety show that starrred the faculty once again. ahahah!
Then the Nurses Night Live.. that kinda bored me so I went home by that time :) Sorry guys, I didn'nt enjoyed that part :)
with Mrs Famorca :)
Anyway, so that is how my first (and hopefully not the last!) Nursing week celebration in The UST-College of Nursing :)
:D
